How Much Are Live-In Carers Paid?
At Ashridge Home Care, we truly value each and every one of our staff. That’s why we’re committed to offering competitive salaries, exceptional incentives and respectful treatment, reflecting our commitment to recognising the vital role of carers in our community. Find out more below.
How much can live-in carers earn with Ashridge Home Care?
Ashridge Home Care takes pride in being acknowledged as the top-paying employer for carers in Buckinghamshire. We offer competitive rates of pay for live-in carers, ranging from £800 to £945 per week – one of the best pay rates in the industry. In addition to this, our live in carers receive double pay on bank holidays and travel expenses.
In addition, carers have the opportunity to earn an extra monthly bonus of £5 per day through positive client feedback and compliance. Pay also increases as carers gain more experience with the company, providing an incentive for long-term commitment.
Are some live-in carers being paid unfairly?
In the first week of April, a recent survey conducted by the care staffing app Florence revealed that around 5% of social care and NHS agency staff were presented with pay rates falling below the newly increased minimum wage of £11.44 per hour, effective April 1st.
Despite the mandated raise, staff reported offers as low as £9 and £9.50 per hour, with the median unlawful wage quoted by unscrupulous agencies standing at £10 per hour. Alarmingly, nearly half of those offered substandard wages were presented with rates exceeding last year’s living wage of £10.42 per hour, hinting at a potential exploitation of legal changes.
Notably, 80% of affected individuals hold positions as care assistants and 71% had three years or less of experience, highlighting the heightened vulnerability of less experienced staff to inadequate treatment by agencies.
What other benefits do live-in carers receive?
At Ashridge Home Care, we prioritise the wellbeing and professional growth of our live-in carers. We offer a range of benefits to ensure they feel supported and valued, including holiday pay, comprehensive and continuous training opportunities, and ongoing support that’s available via phone or in person whenever needed. Plus, we understand the importance of flexibility which is why we allow carers to choose shifts and schedules that best suit their availability.
We also have a generous refer-a-friend scheme that offers up to £400 per referral, an employee assistance programme to help our carers deal with personal or work-related issues and allowances for travel expenses.
What sets us apart from other live-in home care providers is that we don’t charge an accommodation fee. We cover all living costs, including heating and food, meaning our carers can focus on providing the best possible care to our clients.
Do live-in carers have to pay an accommodation fee?
If you’re looking for a live-in care job, you may be concerned about accommodation fees. While some live-in care providers charge accommodation fees, at Ashridge Home Care, we do not. We want to make things as easy as possible for our carers. That’s why we cover all your living expenses, including accommodation, heating, and meals, without adding any extra fees. This means you can focus entirely on providing the best care possible without worrying about unexpected costs. So you can rest assured that you have a stable and comfortable place to stay while caring for your client.
How do we help to ensure our carers feel rewarded and valued?
At Ashridge Home Care, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care services to our clients, and we understand that this is only possible through the hard work and dedication of our team of carers. That’s why we prioritise the wellbeing and satisfaction of our carers by treating them with the same personalised care and attention we extend to our clients.
We believe that every carer is unique and has their own set of needs, which is why we value our carers as individuals and foster a supportive community where everyone helps and supports each other.
To attract and retain top-tier carers, we offer an enhanced rewards and recognition programme that celebrates their contributions to our organisation. Our comprehensive training, including the nationally recognised Care Certificate, means that our carers are fully equipped for their roles and supported by our in-house medical experts.
We understand that being a carer can be a demanding job, which is why we provide regular contact with care managers to offer ongoing support and guidance. Additionally, our exceptionally low staff turnover reflects the positive environment we cultivate.
