Community Care and Support: Ashridge Home Care’s Commitment to the Alzheimer’s Society

At Ashridge Home Care, we believe in the power of community and the importance of supporting families affected by Dementia. As a dedicated home care provider, we see firsthand the impact that a Dementia diagnosis can have—not only on the individual but on their entire family. That’s why we are proud to support the Alzheimer’s Society, actively fundraising for this national charity and raising awareness about the essential support available to those affected. Over the past year we have been at many community events and have raised funds and awareness.  The support we’ve received has been incredibly positive.

Supporting Families, Not Just Individuals

A diagnosis of Dementia can be overwhelming for both the individual and their loved ones. At Ashridge Home Care, we are passionate about caring for the whole family, ensuring they receive the support and guidance they need. Our professional carers help clients maintain their independence while providing reassurance to family members who may feel the strain of caregiving. We can give families support and offer respite and expert professional care.

We are proud to say that all of our employees, including both head office support staff and our carers in the community, have received dementia training. This ensures that everyone involved in care delivery has the knowledge and expertise to provide the best possible support to those living with Dementia and their immediate relatives.

Strengthening Community Ties

Maintaining strong community connections is vital for individuals living with Dementia. Familiar surroundings, social interactions, and a sense of belonging can significantly improve their well-being. At Ashridge, we prioritise enabling our clients to continue their daily routines, stay engaged with their local communities, and enjoy the activities they love—all with the support of a professional home carer. Families that have strong connections with their local church can continue to attend services, take part in summer village fetes and Christmas Light events, these are an important aspect of maintaining an individual’s wellbeing.

Fundraising and Awareness Efforts

Our commitment to the Alzheimer’s Society goes beyond care—we are also dedicated to raising funds and awareness. Over the past year, Ashridge Home Care has participated in various community events, including local villages fetes, Christmas Festivals and Dementia Awareness Roadshows. These events not only help raise essential funds for research and support services but also educate the public about the importance of early intervention and accessible resources.

Trudi Scrivener, Founder of Ashridge Home Care who is also a Dementia Friends Ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Society, emphasises how important community is: “We work with many clients whose families have been affected by Dementia, so offering our support in raising funds for this incredible charity is something we all take very seriously. Not only do we raise money for research, but we also raise awareness around how important it is for people to access the right help so they can continue to live independently in their own home for as long as possible.”

Georgia Thornton, Regional Fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society, echoes this sentiment:
“We are so grateful to staff at Ashridge Home Care for raising such an amazing amount for Alzheimer’s Society. Each hour people generously gave to fundraise for us will make a life-changing difference to people living with dementia.

Alzheimer’s Society provides vital support to people living with dementia, funds groundbreaking research and campaigns to make dementia the priority it should be. Together, we will end the devastation caused by dementia.”

A Shared Mission

At Ashridge Home Care, we are proud to stand alongside the Alzheimer’s Society in their mission to improve the lives of those living with dementia. Whether through our high-quality dementia care services, our extensive training programs, or our fundraising initiatives, we are committed to making a positive impact.
